The 15 : 17 to Paris (2018) Rating (3/5) Cast : Spencer Stone, Alek Karlatos, Anthony Sadler, Judy Greer, Jenna Fischer Directed by Clint Eastwood Review by Zulfiqar             Though the movie seemed to have garnered a lot of criticism for its amateurish casting and direction in its initial parts, looking at the overall portrait, it isn’t that bad at all. Clint Eastwood sticks to his flamboyant way of direction, which is no-nonsense and minding the business. Another interesting point to be noted here is he doesn’t give a political angle of the ‘hostage’ situation which happened in the train from Amsterdam to Paris in the August of 2015. He doesn’t point fingers but comments how the rightful and true-to-their-hearts are the heroes of that fiasco.             The trump card of the movie is the casting of the real life heroes of the incident in their res...

The Age of Adeline (2015) - movie review

The age of Adaline (2015) – rating (3/5) Cast : Blake Lively, Ellen Burstyn, Harrison Ford, Michiel Huisman Directed by Lee Toland Krieger Review by Zulfiqar             The point that the Adaline’s story is kept focused onto a personal level is probably the movie’s redeeming quality. The story writers J Mills Goodloe and Salvador Paskowitz weave the story on a few persons, who come in contact with Adaline, from principally her POV and also by the new narrative style of ‘Amelie’ and ‘the curious case of Benjamin Button’. This new type of commentary by the narrator while relating the historical events concerned with the principal character and his/her story probably had its origins from ‘Zelig’. But it gives a sort of inquisitive pip to the proceedings.             The tone of the movie however is placid and you get accustomed to the tenor at the start, wh...

Red Dragon (2002) - Movie Review

Red dragon (2002) : rating - 4/5 Cast : Anthony Hopkins, Ed Norton, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson, Harvey Keitel, Philip Seymour Hoffmann Based on Thomas Harris’s book ‘Red Dragon’ Director : Brett Ratner Review by Zulfiqar             It’s a real bummer for me as to how I had let a movie like ‘Red Dragon’ unwatched all these years. Being a devoted fan to Anthony Hopkins’s portrayal of Hannibal Lecter, giving a miss to the prequel in sequence is almost blasphemous. Taking the blueprint of the Thomas Harris’s novel Red Dragon, the movie starts with FBI profiler, Will Graham, taking the assistance of Dr Hannibal, a serial killer in finding another psychic murderer, who leaves his denture mark as signature. But Graham has to live with his nightmares while he seeks help from the diabolic doctor.             Brett Ratner’s artistry lies in the way the movie i...

Mission Impossible : Fallout (2018) - trailer review

Mission Impossible : Fallout (2018) Trailer review by Zulfiqar       The first reason you should watchout the trailer of Mission ‘Impossible : fallout’ is for Henry Cavill’s whiskers. Never has a patch of hair on the upper lip’s been more become on him than in the recent times. There are legends of moustaches like Sam Elliott and Tom Selleck. Though it might be too early to compare Cavill in the same elite bracket as them, one couldn’t overlook his dynamic magnetism in flashes where he is hand-battling Tom Cruise (probably). Superman’s franchise probably (for me) didn’t add much to his acting repertoire despite his phenomenal presence in the mediocre ‘the man from UNCLE’. I hope he finds his groove playing, as it looks, baddie in this installment of Mission Impossible.             The plot of the movie and its title suggest some sinister ongoings in Ethan’s agency, which puts the h...
